PAK vs ENG: Fans react as Pakistan end 44-month wait for home Test win after dropping Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi

PAK vs ENG: Fans in Pakistan were ecstatic after their team defeated England by 152 runs to register their first home Test win in 44 months. Pakistan, who last won a home Test match in February 2021, bundled out England for 144 runs in the second innings to break their unwanted streak of a winless run at home.

Pakistan team underwent a major overhaul after losing the first Test of three-match series against England by an innings and 47 runs. Former captain Babar Azam, and star pacers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah were dropped. Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, the only specialist spinner in the Pakistan playing eleven in the first Test, was also dropped from the squad, and Sajid Khan was called back.

A spinning track was prepared for the second Test at the same venue, and Noman Ali and Sajid Khan were inducted in the Pakistan playing eleven. The duo picked all the 20 wickets for Pakistan in the second Test to help their team level the series 1-1. Left-arm spinner Noman picked 11 wickets including eight in the second innings, while off-spinner Sajid Khan chipped in with nine wickets including seven in the first innings.

Also, Babar Azam's replacement Kamran Ghulam smashed a first innings hundred on his Pakistan debut. Azam was dropped after failing to cross the fifty-run mark in Test cricket since December 2022. He played 18 innings during the period.

The big and rare Test win for Pakistan at home drew the attention of the entire cricketing world including former cricketers, commentators, and experts.

"Terrific comeback win by Pakistan to level the series," Ian Bishop wrote moments after Pakistan levelled the series 1-1. Here is how others have reacted:
