Orissa beat Jharkhand by four wickets
Cuttack,Feb 15 (UNI) A hard hitting 80 off 86 balls by opener Bikas Swarup Pati helped hosts Orissa surpass a modest target of 194 set by Jharkhand in the one day Ranji trophy limited over match played at the Barbati stadium here today.
Orissa reached the target in 45th over by losing six wickets.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat, the Jharkhand batsmen failed to put up a match winning total as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
Keshav Kumar top scored with 56 while Rajiv Kumar scored 49. The Jharkhand team was bowled out in the last of their 50 over quota.
Pritamjit Das was the most successful Orissa bowler claiming 3 wicket for 32 runs while Debashis Mohanty took 2 for 30 runs.
Chasing the target, Orissa lost opener B C Mohapatra for 16 and Niranjan Behera for 13 runs. But Pati held one and up and scored freely as the other batsmen chipped in to take Orissa to a comfortable victory.
Pati was run out for 80 while Subit Biswal scored 24 and Prabhanjan Mallick scored 22 runs.
For Jharkhand Sahabaz Nadeem claimed 2 wickets for 43 runs while Mihir Diwakar,S S Rao and Arunb Vidyarthi claimed one wicket each.
