ODI opener Shaun Marsh called to join Aussie team for rest two Tests

Sydney, Oct 23 : Shaun Marsh, the Western Australian opening batsman who has so far represented Australia in eight ODIs, has been called to join the national side in India for the ongoing Test series. But, it is expected that Marsh won't be included in the playing eleven.

Marsh (25) will replace opener Phil Jaques, who has returned home to seek treatment for a back injury.

He expressed happiness at being called up to join his side. "Obviously, I won't be playing but I'll be over there trying my best to get the boys up and doing whatever I can for them. It's crazy to be honest with you. It's a dream come true to be on a Test tour. "It's something I've worked really hard for over the last 12 months," the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

He said he will dedicate his efforts in India to his late grandfather, who passed away last Sunday.

Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said that Marsh was one of the most promising young batsmen in Australian cricket. "Shaun has been selected having opened the batting for Australia in the one-day international arena and shown great potential," Hilditch said in a statement.
