Notices to Sachin, Yuvraj for their comments in media

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today took a bold decision to issue notices to batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar and middle order batsman Yuvraj Singh for their comments in the media.

Addressing a press conference here, Board Treasurer N Srinivasan said the Working Committee after its meeting decided to send notices to the two players under Rule 38 of the Memorandum and Rules and Regulations of the board asking for an explanation for their comments in the media.

Mr Srinivasan said the notices have still not been sent and therefore the time frame for their reply has not been fixed.

Once the notices are prepared and sent, then they would include the time frame for their explanations to reach the board.

''The players are goverened by a code of conduct and they have to adhere to it,'' he said, adding that the board ''can seek an explanation if this was violated'' as was being done in the Ecase of Tendulkar and Yuvraj.

The treasurer was, however, caught on the wrong foot when he was asked whether any action would also be taken against a vice-president of the board who had criticised the players in the media and called the team as weak as that of Zimbabwe.
