No Indian coach in contention: BCCI
Chennai, Jun 7 (UNI)Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Nirajnan Shah today said no Indian was in contention for team India coach and only the selected two will be interviewed on June 9.
Mr Shah, who arrived here from Bangalore for the coaches committee meeting said there are only two names before the panel- Graham Ford and John Emburey. ''There is no question of an Indian coach now'', he emphasised.
He said a decision would be taken and announced after Ford and Emburey make their presentations before the Coaches Committe on Saturday.
Asked why Dave Whatmore was dropped, Mr Shah said, ''It is the panel's decision.'' Asked about the reason for Sunil Gavaskar's choice of John Emburey, he said, ''it is his personal suggestion. I can't answer that question.'' Mr Shah also said the Asian Cricket Council meeting here tomorrow would discuss the development of the game in the Asian continent.
Meanwhile, Graham Ford, the hot contender for the post to take over from Greg Chappel, arrived here this evening.
However, he refrained from speaking to the waiting media.
