No comments now, will speak at former skippers meet: Kapil Dev
Pune, Apr 6 (UNI) Notwithstanding the turmoil in Indian cricket, former all-rounder Kapil Dev skirted the issues plaguing the game but said he would bare his heart in the former skippers meeting with the BCCI today.
''Since the BCCI is meeting in Mumbai, it would not be proper on my part to express my views now,'' Kapil told reporters here yesterday.
''I will present my views to the members of the Board when they meet former skippers in Mumbai,'' he said.
The former World Cup-winning captain was here to inaugurate the fifth limited overs international cricket tournament hosted by the Dawoodi Bohra community to commemorate the 96th birth anniversary of their spiritual leader.
Earlier, while inaugurating the tournament, Kapil lauded the Bohra community and said the community's peaceful demeanour needs to be emulated by one and all.
Speaking about cricket, Kapil said the game teaches one to respect the country apart from instilling confidence and building character.
Former national cricket selection committee chairman Rajsingh Dungarpur was also present on the occasion. He too paid rich tributes to the Bohra community.
The fifth edition of the Bohra community-hosted international limited overs cricket tournament has attracted five teams from overseas and they include teams from Sarjah, Sri Lanka, England, Dubai and Pakistan. A total of twelve teams are participating in the tournament which include teams from Pune, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, Surat, Kolkata and Indore.
