Navdeep, Ranjit post wins in Syria ITF tourney
Damascus, Syria, Jul 15 (UNI) Navdeep Singh and Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan won their respective singles matches to advance to the second round of the 15,000 dollar ITF event here.
While Navdeep came back from a set down to beat Antoine Tassart of France 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, Ranjit also had to toil hard to overcome Harshana Godamanna of Sri Lanka 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(4).
In the doubles event, Navdeep and his Austrian partner Richard Ruckelshausen advanced to the quarterfinals after outplaying the Syrian duo of Hayder Al Samman and Moafak Hafiz 6-3, 6-1.
Another Indian in the fray, Vignesh Peranamallur Chandrasekhar, failed to live upto the challenge, going down 1-6, 3-6 to Jean-Noel Inasausti of France in the first round.
Rohan Gajjar, meanwhile, has a tough task on his hands as he takes on the top seed Riccardo Ghedin of Italy.
