Mubarak lifts Sri Lanka to 196 in rain-reduced ODI
COLOMBO, July 25 (Reuters) Jehan Mubarak top-scored with 72 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 196 by Bangladesh in the weather-affected third one-day international on Wednesday.
Promoted to number five in a middle-order reshuffle, Mubarak rescued the Sri Lanka innings after the hosts had slumped to 61-4 after being put into bat in the rain-reduced 40-over contest.
The left-hander faced 82 balls and hit six boundaries during an innings that included a fifth-wicket stand of 78 with Tillakaratne Dilshan (39).
Left arm spinner Abdur Razzaq was the most successful of the bowlers, finishing with 3-47 from 7.5 overs.
After a delayed start due to morning rain, Bangladesh's new ball bowlers Shahadat Hossain and Syed Rasel troubled the Sri Lanka top order.
Veteran opener Sanath Jayasuriya (eight) edged behind off Hossain and Upul Tharanga (14) was trapped lbw by Rasel.
Chamara Kapugedera -- drafted in after Chamara Silva was rested -- was dropped three times before eventually being caught at mid on for seven.
Kumar Sangakkara started fluently but was dismissed by Razzaq, caught at mid off after a loose drive.
Mubarak and Dilshan, profiting from Bangladesh's ragged fielding, then staged a fight-back to leave the hosts with a modest but defendable total.
Sri Lanka rested three players after taking a 2-0 lead in the three-match series on Monday, leaving out Silva, Malinga Bandara and Lasith Malinga.
