Most ICC Trophies Won by Player: Rohit & Kohli Break Dhoni's Indian Record After Champions Trophy 2025 Triumph
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli went past Mahendra Singh Dhoni for most ICC trophies won by Indian players following Team India's Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in Dubai on Sunday (March 9).
India rode on Rohit's fifty after Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav starred with two wickets each to beat New Zealand by 4 wickets with 6 balls spare in the Champions Trophy 2025 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Rohit and Kohli, who were part of the T20 World Cup-winning side last year, added a fourth ICC trophy to their cabinet, bettering MS Dhoni's three. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was also part of the triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 squad, went level with Dhoni in second for Indians with most ICC trophies.
Most ICC Trophies Won by Indian Players

The Indian skipper, who added his first ICC trophy under the captaincy of Dhoni in 2007, went on win his second global title in 2013, also during Dhoni's reign. It was later his turn to lead India to ICC titles as he finally won captained India to 2024 T20 World Cup success and the 2025 Champions Trophy glory.
Virat Kohli (4 - 2011 ODI World Cup, 2013 & 2025 Champions Trophy, 2024 T20 World Cup)
The stalwart, who failed to land the big prize during his captaincy stint, won his first two ICC titles under the leadership of Dhoni in 2011 and 2013, and after a barren run added two more trophies to his kitty under the captaincy of Rohit in 2024 and 2025.
MS Dhoni (3 - 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy)
One of the most successful captains in India history, Dhoni helped India end their ICC trophy drought in 2007 by winning the inaugural T20 World Cup, and made it a World Cup double by winning the ICC show-piece four years later. In 2013, Dhoni helped India to their last ICC title till Rohit stopped the long drought.

While Kohli and Rohit broke the Indian record, the two stalwarts still remain one shy off the overall record for most trophies won by a player in ICC events. That record is still held by former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting, who finished his career with five ICC trophies.
The Indian senior stars, however, joined several others, mostly Australian cricketers, in second on the list for most ICC trophies won by players so far. Rohit and Kohli will look to add at least one more big trophy to their cabinet before they bid aideu to their international careers.
The 36 and 37-year-old, who will be even closer to 40 before their ICC event apperance, having retired from T20I cricket, will need to wait until 2027 for the next ICC trophy - either the 2027 ODI World Cup or the World Test Championship (WTC) Final that year.
As it stands, Kohli and Rohit are level with eight other Australians - current and past players, who have won four ICC trophies in their international career. The list includes Adam Gilchrist, Glenn McGrath, Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson, as well as the current quartet - Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc.
Cummins captained the trio of Starc, Smith and Hazlewood to their fourth ICC title as Australia broke Indian hearts in the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad. Here is a look at the most ICC trophies won by a player list:
