McGrath hints of making a comeback in ICL
Dubai, May 25 (UNI) It might come as a major boost for the Zee Group promoted-Indian Cricket League (ICL) as Australia's champion fast bowler Glenn McGrath has hinted of putting on his bowling boots once again for the breakway league.
''I saw a lot of mention about it (ICL) in the newspapers and has been reading about it but knew nothing about it. It has finally come about. My manager and me had a meeting the other day. It is in the initial stages and it is something I got to weigh up now that I am retired, and I am an ex-cricketer,'' McGrtah was quoted by 'The Gulf News' as saying.
''It is an interesting opportunity to go there and be involved.
I am not totally sure, like I said it's in its initial stages. I haven't given as much thought as I have retired and is enjoying the World Cup victory and spending time with my family,'' he added.
Since its announcement a month back, several other retired cricketers like Brian Lara, Shane Warne and Inzamam-ul-Haq have also been linked to the proposed series.
However, the 37-year-old Aussie who retired from international cricket after helping his side to a third successive World Cup win, said he has still not made up his mind about the decision.
''I am tossing up whether it is what I have to do as I have retired to spend more time at home with family. I haven't said yes or no,'' McGrath said.
Meanwhile, elaborating on the concept of the league, which is a Twenty20 event, he said, ''It is a game that public want to see and they enjoy. It is something different though as a bowler one would get only four overs and by the time one gets warmed up the game is finished. It is a bit of fun.'' UNI XC SSC TB VV1112
