Four runs were needed off the final delivery, and three for a Super Over but Mendis could manage only two runs on the final ball as Jaffna qualified for their third final in the last four years.

Earlier on July 18, Galle Marvels had defeated Jaffna Kings by seven wickets in the Qualifier 1 to earn a direct entry in the LPL 2024 final. While Jaffna will be led by Charith Asalanka, wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella will captain Galle in the final.
