Looking back at all the World Cup finals from 1975 to 2011

In 10 World Cup finals till today, only 3 have been won by teams batting second with India taking the trophy in 2011 with highest ever successful chase in a final.

The 11th edition of World Cup will get under way in Australia and New Zealand on February 14 this year. The final will be hosted in Melbourne on March 29.

June 21, 1975 was the day when the first ever World Cup final was held at Lord's Cricket Ground in England. West Indies won the match against Australia.

India are the latest team to win the coveted prize after defeating Sri Lanka in 2011 edition in Mumbai. MS Dhoni-led side chased down a record 275 to bag the prize.
