Lawson to continue as Pak coach: PCB

Lahore, Jul 4 (UNI) The PCB has denied rumours that coach Geoff Lawson will be removed from his post despite his failure to take Pakistan inti the Asia Cup final.

''There is absolutely no truth in the rumours that Geoff Lawson will be removed after the Asia Cup,'' Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Nasim Ashraf told the 'Dawn'. ''No such matter is under discussion.'' According to Ashraf, there was no question about replacing Lawson since the team was improving under the Aussie coach.

The PCB declaration would come as a huge relief for Lawson whose recent row with the media and reports about his constantly strained relations with the selectors have feulled speculations that the former Aussie pacer might be on his way out after the on-going Asia Cup, which will be much before his two-year contract expires in August next year.
