KSCA President praises Kumble

Bangalore, Nov 2 (UNI) Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar today praised Anil Kumble, who announced his retirement from International Cricket.

In a message, Mr Wadiyar described him as a legend and said he was a great cricketer who had taken more than 600 Test wickets.

''He is a gentlemen cricketer on and off the field,'' he said.

Mr Kumble has been a gritty cricketer and a good fighter on the field and who never use to give up till the end.

He has shown the fighting spirit on the field. It would be a great loss to Indian cricket as no body could fill in his boots.

''I am proud that he is from Karnataka, who held the Indian flag high whenever he represented the country. I hope that his services to the game of cricket will continue in other capacities and especially to Karnataka cricket,'' he said.
