Koertzen replaces Bowden for Eden Gardens Test

Kolkata, Nov 28 (UNI) South African ICC elite umpire Rudy Koertzen will now officiate in the India-Pakistan Test match commencing at the Eden Gardens from November 30 in place of Billy Bowden.

The ICC today sent a directive to this effect. The other umpire for the match would be Billy Doctrove from West Indies.

The South African umpire, who had wrongly adjudged Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara ''out'' in a test match against Australia, was replaced by Pakistan's Aleem Dar for Sri Lanka's upcoming Test against England.

Sangakkara was about to complete his double century against Australia, when he was adjudged out. Koertzen had apologised for his ''mistake'', which destroyed all chances for Sri Lanka of levelling the series.

Koertzen will now be the umpire in the Eden Gardens India-Pakistan Test match, in place of Kiwi's Billy Bowden.
