Justin Vaughan replaces Snedden as New Zealand Cricket head

Wellington, May 06 (UNI) Former New Zealand all-rounder Justin Vaughan has been named the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the New Zewlnad Cricket board (NZC) replacing Martin Snedden.

While announcing the name of the new CEO, NZC Board chairman Sir John Anderson said, ''I am pleased to announce Justin as the incoming chief executive.'' ''As an NZC Board member and a successful chief executive officer, Justin has all the attributes required to take over from Martin Snedden and to lead New Zealand Cricket,'' he added.

Justin Vaughan, who is a qualified medical practitioner and is currently the chief executive of BrainZ instruments, an Auckland based medical technology company, has represented New Zealand in six Test matches and 18 ODIs from 1992 to 1997.

Commenting on his new role as the head of New Zealand cricket, Dr Vaughan said, ''I have had a long association with cricket and hope to build on the hard work which has taken cricket in New Zealand from a largely amateur structure in the early 1990s to the professional sport that it is today.

''I will continue to ensure focus on all aspects of the game from the grassroots through to the White Ferns and Blackcaps,'' he added.

Meanwhile, outgoing CEO Martin Snedden has expressed satisfaction at his six year stint as the head of the New Zealand Cricket.

''I have enjoyed my time at New Zealand Cricket and admit to feeling some sadness that I am leaving after a long association as a player, board member and CEO,'' said Mr Snedden whose next assignment would be as Chief Executive of Rugby NZ.
