IPL 2026: Sai Sudharsan Fastest to 2000 IPL Runs, Beats former RCB star by a Whisker

Gujarat Titans batter Sai Sudharsan has topped an impressive chart amid his excellent outing in the IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday (April 24).

Sai Sudharsan has been playing a stellar knock against RCB as GT are batting first. The southpaw continues on 82 off just 45 balls, hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes.

Sudharsan took on the RCB bowlers early and has looked in immense touch so far as the Titans aim to put a big total. Along with Sudharsan, GT captain Shubman Gill has also made a solid base as he bats on 30 off 21 balls, with the away side 116 without any loss at the end of 11 overs.

Along his masterful knock, Sudharsan has created a unique record by scoring 2000 IPL runs in least number of innings. The Tamil Nadu-born opener has taken 47 innings to reach the milestone, the quickest in terms of innings in the tournament. He has toppled Chris Gayle who took 48 innings to reach 2000 runs.

The GT opener has also etched his name in another prestigious list as he is the 6th fastest in terms of ball to score 2000 IPL runs, as he has taken 1361 deliveries. Abhishek Sharma remains by far the quickest with just 1193 deliveries, followed by Virender Sehwag who took 1211 balls. Rishabh Pant (1306), Yashasvi Jaiswal (1326) and Yusuf Pathan (1351) are ahead of him.
