Who is Akash Maharaj Singh?
Akash Maharaj Singh is a promising Indian left-arm medium-fast bowler, born on April 26, 2002, in Nagla Ram Ratan village, Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
Coming from a humble background - his father a farmer and mother a homemaker, Akash’s journey in cricket began at the Shardul Sports School in Bikaner. He later received advanced training at the MRF Pace Foundation, where he refined his bowling skills under elite coaching.
He made his domestic T20 debut for Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November 2019, picking up 2 wickets on debut. His talent earned him a spot in India’s Under-19 squad for both the 2019 ACC Asia Cup and the 2020 ICC U19 World Cup, where he played a key role in India’s run to the final.
To get more playing time, Akash also represented Nagaland and Baroda in domestic circuits. In the Ranji Trophy, he showed his ability with the red ball, including key wickets in matches against strong opponents like Mumbai.
Akash Singh IPL Career
Akash was first picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 IPL auction but got limited game time. He made his IPL debut in 2021. In 2023, he was signed by Chennai Super Kings as a replacement player and featured in four matches, claiming five wickets and drawing attention with his raw pace and left-arm angle. In 2024, he was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad but did not get a chance to feature during the season.
