International newsmakers 2017: Cricket - Ben Stokes

The England all-rounder had some terrific match-turning efforts on the field in 2017. But his most notable moment - unfortunately - came on the streets on a balmy Bristol night. Stokes got involved in a street brawl and subsequently the England and Wales Cricket Board suspended him and dropped him from the Ashes squad. His absence reflected in England's Ashes outings - they struggled and lost the series. Stokes, meanwhile, plied his trade in New Zealand domestic cricket.
