ICC Women's T20 World Cup: How Harmanpreet Kaur and co. reached the semifinal?

India

The Indian Women's cricket team have qualified for the semifinals in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup.

It has been an almost smooth journey for Harmanpreet Kaur and her girls as the Indian team have qualified to the last four as the Group B runners-up.

India were slotted in the group with Pakistan, Ireland, England and West Indies. And this is how they have reached the T20 World Cup semi-finals.

Jumping Jemimah against Pakistan:

India's first encounter in the group stage was the high voltage meet against arch-rivals Pakistan. Pakistan scored 149/4 after batting, which was the highest score in a T20 match between the old foes. India played a thriller and won the match by 7 wickets, courtesy of Jemimah Rodrigues. Jemimah scored an unbeaten 53 off just 38 balls and steered India to a fantastic win to open the account at the expense of Pakistan.

In reply, India had an early stutter as Smriti Mandhana (10) and Jemimah (1) departed early, but captain Harmanpreet Kaur (33 off 42 balls) and young wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh (44 off 32 balls) steered India to a comfortable win. They finished the match with 11 balls to spare.

A slip against England despite Reunka Brilliance:

Nat Sciver (50 off 42 balls) and Amy Jones (40 off 27 balls) brought the English out of the mud as they finished with 151/7. Renuka though had magical figures as she finished with 5/15, showing an outstanding display of pace bowling.

India had a stuttering start in the chase. Shafali Verma (8), Jemimah (13) and Harmanpreet (4) fell early as the pressure mounted on Smriti Mandhana. Despite Mandhana's fifty and a handy knock from Richa Ghosh, India fell 11 runs short against the England side and suffered their first defeat.
