India U 19 beat England colts in three-nation 'ODI' tourney
Kuala Lumpur, Feb 19 (UNI) Captain Piyush Chawla took four wickets for 25 to lead India U-19 to a 69-run victory over England colts in the three-nation 'ODI' tournament, which also involves Malaysia, at Kinrara Oval here.
India emerged winner on the basis of Duckworth-Lewis method after rain stopped play in India innings after they had scored 127 for one in 21 overs, chasing a victory target of 195.
Batting first after winning the toss, England were shot out for 194 in 46.4 overs with Karl Brown scoring a century.
All other England batsmen fell cheaply as they lost their last six wickets for just 18 runs.
Yo Mahesh and Ishant Sharma shared the top three England batsmen while the next two batsmen were run out before Chawla polished off the lower order with his incisive spin bowling of 9.4 overs.
In reply, India colts got off to a shaky start with opener Ravi Teja being dismissed cheaply for just four.
But Sunny Sohail and Tanmay Srivastava combined in an unbeaten partnership of 114 for the second wicket to take India to 127 for one before thunderstorm struck.
India were declared winners by 69 runs when the Duckworth-Lewis method was applied.
