India thrash Pakiatan by five wickets

Guwahati, Nov 5 (UNI) India today scored an emphatic five wicket win over arch rival Pakistan in the first one-day international (ODI) played here at the Nehru Stadium, to go one up in the five match series.

Both India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni(63) and vice-captain Yuvraj Singh(58) came together to torment the Pakistani bowling attack, after the visitors put up a modest total of 239 for seven wickets on the board, as the Indian spinners had them on the ropes.

Pakistan's total was mainly built by batting mainstay Mohammed Yousuf who remined defiant on 83 and Salman Butt who scored a 50.

For India, Sachin Tendulkar emerged as the surprise bowling hero, picking up two wickets.

Dhoni was later adjudged man of the match for his calm innings.
