India slips below Bangladesh in Maruti Suzuki ODI Ratings

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) Following their World Cup debacle, India has slipped below Bangladesh to ninth in the latest Maruti Suzuki ODI Cricket Ratings issued today.

None of the Indians also made it to the top ten in either bowling or batting lists issued by ESPN STAR Sports.

India, who had lost to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, in the group stage of the World Cup, were just ahead of Kenya.

Giant killers Bangladesh, who advanced to the Super Eights and defeated formidable South Africa, have been placed two places above India at seventh in the list.

The list saw batting and bowling mainstays of the four Caribbean World Cup semi-finalists -- Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka -- securing top positions.

World Cup highest run getter Matthew Hayden occupies the top spot in the ODI batting list with 184 points, closely followed by South African batting mainstay Jacques Kallis (179 points).

Australia captain Ricky Ponting is at the third spot with 176 points while Kevin Pietersen (169 points) and Abraham de Villiers (164 points) make the top five.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul (160 points), Mahela Jayawardene (155), Scott Styris (151), Michael Clarke (147) and Sanath Jayasuriya (145) complete the top ten list.

Aussie legend Glen McGrath, who retired after the World Cup, leads the ODI bowling ratings with 195 points. Muttiah Muralitharan sits pretty at number two spot with 188 points.

Nathan Bracken, who has impressed one and all with his swing bowling, is at the third spot with 181 points. Kiwi tearaway bowler Shane Bond (177) is at number four, while former Proteas captain Shaun Pollock is at number five with 173 points. Another South African, Andrew Hall, follows closely with 165 points.

Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga is at number seven with 161 points, and his fellow countrymen Chaminda Vaas is at number eight with 156 points. Bangladesh bowler Mashrafe Mortaza (150) and Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait complete the top 10 bowlers' list with 144 points.
