India-Lanka first ODI in Kolkata to be a day-night match: BCCI

Mumbai, Jan 27 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced that the first one-day international between India and Sri Lanka, rescheduled to be held at Kolkata on February 8, would now be a day-night affair.

The match which was originally supposed to be held at the Nehru Stadium in Pune, was shifted to Kolkata after the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) expressed their apprehension regarding the smooth conduct of the match, BCCI Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty said in a media release.

''In view of the development, the Tour Programmes and Fixtures Committee of the BCCI has allotted the match to the Cricket Association of Bengal, which is the next venue as per the rotation policy of the BCCI,'' he said.

The Lankans will, however, still arrive in Mumbai - as per the original schedule - on February 2, and would play a warm-up game at the Bandra-Kurla Complex of the Mumbai Cricket Association on February 5 before leaving for Kolkata the next morning, Shetty added.

''The match would be played between the Lankans and a team comprising players of Mumbai who are not in the team for the Ranji Trophy final (to be held on February 2-6 at the Wankhede Stadium),''he further said.
