The 1983 World Cup was a revolution in Indian cricket. A bunch of players changed the dynamics of the sport in this mammoth nation with an inspiring English summer.

There were players who punched above their weights and rose the highest against some giant opposition. But there is one player who is blessed with several other talents apart from cricket.

India's 1983 hero Sandeep Patil is known for his flamboyance during his cricket days. He was an inspiring character and was a vital part of the Indian jigsaw in their Prudential Cup win in 1983.

Patil is also blessed with other talents such as cook, actor, singer and writer... and the latest extracurricular vitae is added to his list - Painting!

The player recently showed his painter side in an interview with Sports Star, where he revealed his skills with the brush and colours.

The player stunned his teammates and cricket friends with the creations and has over 100 paintings, since starting it during the pandemic.

"All paintings have been drawn by me during this Pandemic. Of course, my family was aware but not the world outside," Patil said in an interview with Sports Star.

The player also revealed he was fond of paintings as a child and had inspiration from his mother and sister.

"In fact, I have been drawing from my childhood. My mother (Sumitra) and sister (Asha) loved to paint and I would watch them in awe. So, it is not a love that I developed during this Pandemic" said Patil.

"I couldn't resist because I was always fond of painting and thought this was the best time to stay busy. I was learning to play guitar and added painting also to my daily schedule," he added.

The former India player says painting helps to keep negative forces away and believes finding solutions to obstacles helps him grow.

"You may face problems but the fun is in finding the solution. I just immersed myself in this world of colours. I love to stay busy because it keeps negative forces away. Cooking has been an obsession for me and now this painting was essentially to entertain myself. In the process I now have a collection," Patil further continued.

The swashbuckling player is also handy with other sports like badminton, tennis and billiards - and says he struggles to sit idle and likes to engage himself with activities.

What is the plan with all of the paintings of his? "An exhibition someday," Patil concluded.
