ICC to continue umpire review system trial in the upcoming series'

Dubai, Oct 8 (UNI) Despite apprehensions voiced by the Indian team on the umpire review system during the last tour of Sri Lanka, the International Cricket Council (ICC) would continue to trial the system in future Test series before implementing it on a 'more permanent basis.' ''A feature of Tests of the future will be the decision review system, which we trialled during the recent Sri Lanka vs India series,'' ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat said in a statement.

''After a positive response, further trials will be held over the coming months to see if it's something we should implement on a more permanent basis,'' he added.

However, the ICC has decided not to use this system in the India-Australia series starting tomorrow because the governing body had still not gathered the complete information from the trial in Sri Lanka.

''It was not possible to hold another trial during this series because we needed to gather all the information from Sri Lanka before launching into another trial.

''This system is another example of something that the ICC is doing to help improve the game for players, match officials and spectators,'' he added.
