ICC female-staffer alleges sexual harassment at work, complain goes unaddressed: Report

A shocking incident of alleged harassment of a female employee has come to light in the International Cricket Council (ICC). Reportedly, the courageous act of voicing her discomfort, by the female staffer, has gone inexplicably unheard by top management at ICC.

As per a News18 report, the concerned staffer refrained from using standard digital means to report her distress for fear of being tracked by influential figures in ICC. Instead, she gave her detailed complaint handwritten on an A4 paper in person to a top ICC official.

Sexual Harassment at ICC: Documents Delivered Personally, Yet No Response

Despite her brave stand, the staffer received zero response from ICC officials, including the chairman and CEO. Outside of occasional email exchanges with the legal team, none of the top brass even acknowledged her complaint.

A Long-standing ICC Employee

The female staffer has spent significant time at ICC, serving on numerous projects including the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE. Her career at ICC came under a cloud when the alleged harassment by a senior ICC official began before the aforementioned event.

Serious Allegations against a Senior Official

According to the source, the official in question has allegedly been the subject of multiple similar complaints in the past. For the staffer, battling against such a powerful institution and its leadership was daunting, and her fears of jeopardizing professional future prospects only added to her plight.

Despite reaching out to two very senior ICC officials, no dialogue has been initiated nor has any committee been established to investigate the claims. The ICC's official website highlights the commitment to providing a safe working environment for all, but its silence in this matter raises questions.
