ICC appoints match officials for group stages of Twenty20 WC

Dubai, Sep 2 (UNI) The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the three teams of five match officials for the group stage of the inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa, which kick starts on September 11.

For the group stage of next month's 12-nation tournament, England's Chris Broad, Mike Procter of South Africa and former Sri Lankan skipper Ranjan Madugalle has been appointed as the match referees who will oversee the proceedings across three venues namely, Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg; Kingsmead, Durban and Newlands in Cape Town.

Broad will be assisted by Aussie Daryl Harper, England's Mark Benson as umpires and Nigel Llong, while Karl Hurter will be the fourth official for all group stage matches to be held in Johannesburg.

In Durban, Procter will be joined by West Indian Billy Doctrove, Simon Taufel of Australia and Steve Davis as the main umpires and Brian Jerling will be the fourth offcial.

Meanwhile, in Cape Town, Madugalle will have with him Pakistan's Asad Rauf as well as Tony Hill and Ian Howell as umpires, while Marais Erasmus will be the fourth official.
