I will not accept captaincy again: Lara
Chennai, Jan 25 (UNI) West Indies cricket captain Brian Lara today said he had accepted captaincy for a second time only after being persuaded by his senior teammates S Chanderpaul and former captains Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd and Gary Sobers.
Participating in an interactive session ''Rendezvous with Lara,'' got up by ING Vysya Bank here he said he would not, however, accept captaincy again once he comes out of it. ''Captaincy is very challenging and an arduous task,'' he said.
Lara said he had accepted the captaincy again only to motivate the team.
He said his teamate Chanderpaul, who resigned as captain had urged him to take on the mantle again as it was necessary, if West Indies was to win the World Cup.
The former captains Lloyd, Roy Fredricks, Richards and Sobers had also motivated him to accept captaincy again. ''I realise that I have something to offer to the team and to get it back to the top,'' Lara explained.
