Hussey moves closer to Bradman, averages 82.38

Sydney, Nov 10 (UNI) Mike Hussey is on a high with a test average of 82.38, the best average after the greatest of them all, Sir Donald Bradman who had a staggerring career average of 99.94.

He hit 133, helping his team post a massive total of 551 in the first innings of the opening test against Sri Lanka at Brisbane yesterday. His innings displayed a striking blend of confidence and maturity that underscored his devastaing form.

But, it seems his average is of more interest to statisticians and fans than to him. "It (the average) is not important at all to me. Everyone else seems to talk about it but I think the averages and runs scored and things like that, it's something I'll look back on when I've finished my career. I'll sit back and reminisce about some of the great moments and great days." The 32-year-old, who celebrated the birth of his daughter Molly recently, gives more importance to his family.

"I really appreciate the sacrifices they make to let me live my dream. I was really proud for those guys to be here, today, We have had a pretty tough off-season. It was [Molly's] first Test ..

hopefully she slept through the day." Hussey, who was chosen as the One-Day International Player of the Year in 2006, had a forgettable World Cup earlier this year.

He silenced his critics by slamming a scintillating century against the World Cup runners-up yesterday.
