GT vs KKR, IPL 2026: A 39 kmph Drop! Ashok Sharma outfoxes Rovman Powell as Commentator Hails Titans' Pacer

In a moment of pure cricketing craft, Gujarat Titans' young pacer Ashok Sharma produced a sensational slower-ball dismissal to send back Kolkata Knight Riders' explosive middle-order batter Rovman Powell during the 25th match of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Powell, who had just begun to shift gears with 27 off 20 balls (including two sixes), was completely deceived by Sharma's back-of-the-hand slower delivery.

GT vs KKR: Ashok Sharma's 39 kmph Drop

The ball clocked a mere 107.7 kmph - a dramatic drop from the searing 146 kmph rocket Sharma had unleashed the previous delivery. The ball went high up in the air and Mohammed Siraj completed a fantastic catch as well. West Indies commentator Ian Bishop hailed the GT pacer, saying 'I am running out of adjectives to describe this special talent'.

KKR slumped to 87/4 in the 11th over, their innings derailed at a crucial juncture. The 23-year-old Rajasthan pacer, who made headlines earlier this season by bowling the fastest delivery of IPL 2026 at 154.2 kmph, once again showcased his growing repertoire.

Bought by GT for ₹90 lakh in the 2026 auction after a promising stint with Rajasthan Royals, Sharma is fast becoming a vital cog in a formidable pace unit alongside Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. His ability to mix raw speed with clever variations has already earned praise from captain Shubman Gill.

Powell, a proven T20 destroyer, had looked dangerous after a slow start, but Sharma's smart execution on a surface offering grip for slower balls proved decisive. KKR, who opted to bat first after winning the toss, were struggling to build momentum against a disciplined GT attack.
