Graham Thorpe took his own life, reveals wife Amanda after ex-England cricketer's tragic death
Former England cricketer Graham Thorpe passed away earlier this month, on August 5. The 55-year-old 's death was mourned by the entire cricketing fraternity.
But amid the shock of the cricketer's death, his wife has made huge revelations about the Englishman's tragic passing.

The former England cricket star tragically ended his own life, as revealed by his wife Amanda. Thorpe passed away earlier this month and his county team Surrey announced his death on August 5.
But Amanda, the recently widowed wife has revealed that prior to taking his own life, Thorpe was struggling with mental health. She also revealed that the left-handed batter was fighting depression for a long time.
"Despite having a wife and two daughters whom he loved and who loved him, he did not get better. He was so unwell in recent times and he really did believe that we would be better off without him and we are devastated that he acted on that and took his own life," Amanda told The Times.
Graham's battle with mental health issues had been ongoing for a couple of years. Amanda revelaed that in May 2022, he made a serious attempt on his life which led to an extended stay in intensive care. Despite showing occasional signs of improvement, his condition remained severe.
"For the past couple of years, Graham had been suffering from major depression and anxiety. This led him to make a serious attempt on his life in May 2022, which resulted in a prolonged stay in an intensive care unit."
"Despite glimpses of hope and of the old Graham, he continued to suffer from depression and anxiety, which at times got very severe. We supported him as a family and he tried many, many treatments but unfortunately, none of them really seemed to work," she added.
Thorpe was known for his mental toughness on the cricket field and maintained good physical health. However, mental illness can affect anyone regardless of their outward strength.
He played 100 Test Matches and 82 One Day Internationals for England. In 1997, he was named Wisden Cricketer of the Year after scoring back-to-back centuries during the Ashes series. He scored 9000 runs in international cricket with 16 centuries.
