Gill thanks BCCI for enhancing grant to NSDF to Rs 50 crore

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) Sports Minister M S Gill today thanked the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) for doubling its grant to Rs 50 crore to National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) for development of other games in the country in the wake of the good showing at the Beijing Olympics.

In a message, Dr Gill said,''BCCI is our richest sports institution. The President, Mr Sharad Pawar has been good enough to give Rs 25 crore earlier for the development of other games to the Sports Ministry's NSDF. I have been anxious that they should give more help and wanted them to raise to Rs 50 crore a year.'' Stating that Pawar's gesture would be welcomed by the people just when the country had done so well in the Beijing Olympics, he expressed confidence that the minister would continue to expand his support to other games which did not have adequate finances.
