Ganguly should open on ODIs: Kapil
Barasat, Jan 31 (UNI) India's World Cup winning former captain Kapil Dev today said Sourav Ganguly should open in the upcoming World Cup in the West Indies.
Speaking to mediapersons here, he said, ''Sourav will come out with good performance. If he can not open the innings now, when he will do it.'' Talking to mediapersons during his visit at the Vidyasagar Stadium here in this district town, Kapil, however, refrained from making any comment on the selection of the Indian squad saying ''Who am I to comment?'' Kapil Dev visited the stadium before signing an agreement later today between his company Dev Masco and the stadium committee for finalising the contract of installing floodlights at the stadium.
The agreement will be signed at a city hotel, a stadium official said.
M/s Dev Masco, the company, which installed floodlight system at the Gurgaon stadium in Haryana obtained a Rs 52 lakh contract to install the system at the Vidyasagar stadium.
Kapil expressed hope that the stadium would be of international standard at least for football.
All India Football Federation (AIFF) had already chosen Vidyasagar Stadium as one of the football venues for National League but the stadium did not have proper lighting facilities.
