Ganguly eyes role of senior cricketer to perfection

Kolkata, June 19 (UNI) Sourav Ganguly today said his role during India's tour of England would be that of a senior cricketer helping out with suggestions and scoring as much runs as he can.

Talking to the media before leaving for the tough English summer, Ganguly said, ''I will have to play a role of a senior cricketer to perfection. Support my captain Rahul Dravid and guide the juniors whenever they seek help.'' ''I would also like to be successful both with the bat and ball as the English conditions suit me well,'' he said.

Ganguly made his Test debut at Lords, England, with a sparkling 131 in 1996 and then went to England again in 2002 as captain and reaped huge success.

Asked if the famous T-shirt episode would happen again, he said, ''That was the excitement of youth. I am more matured now. it will certainly not happen again.

Earlier, in the day Ganguly went to offer prayers at Kalighat and then left for airport.
