Gambhir to join Indian team for third Test

New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) Gautam Gambhir has been asked to join the Indian team in Bangalore as a cover for Sachin Tendulkar who is likely to miss the third and final Test against Pakistan, beginning tomorrow.

''Selection Committee has decided to send Gautam Gambhir as stand by if Sachin cannot take part in the match,'' a BCCI press release said today.

''If Sachin will be fit to play for the match then Gambir will be relieved for Ranji Trophy starting from December 9,'' it said.

Captain Anil Kumble told reporters in Bangalore that Tendulkar had aggravated his knee pain, which he first felt during the ODI series, during second Test at Kolkata.
