Four Sarawak players test positive for drugs
KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Reuters) Four players from troubled Malaysian Super League team Sarawak have tested positive for drugs, local media reported today.
Three of the players have been remanded in custody by police for further investigation, days after club officials admitted they had no money to send the team to play in away matches.
The Star said one of players who tested positive was involved in a drugs controversy six years ago.
Team manager Razali Dolhan was quoted as saying: ''I have never dealt with such a situation before. I will wait and see what happens. It is a sad thing. All four are key first-team players.
Whether we field them again will depend very much on what happens next.'' The Crocs are bottom of the 13-team Super League and are likely to be relegated. They failed to show up last week for their final Malaysia Cup Group C match against Pahang because of financial problems. Player salaries have not been paid for three months.
Sarawak's next match is a Super League game at home to Telekom FC on Saturday before an away match against Brunei on June 6.
