Flintoff should avoid England captaincy : Gatting

London, Nov 7 (UNI) Former England captain Mike Gatting has endorsed Duncan Fletcher's revelations and has suggested that Andrew Flintoff would be well adviced to avoid the England captaincy in future.

Gatting, who was recently appointed as the Director of Cricket Partnerships by the England and Wales Cricket Board, said, "Flintoff is a free spirit, and you generally try to let free spirits run free". He was speaking at a briefing at the ECB office where he was unveiling his first project since his appointment.'' Commenting on allegations that Flintoff had turned up drunk for practice during the last Ashes series in Australia, he said, "I was disappointed with both sides. With Freddie because he has responsibilities to the team as captain. And with Fletcher, too, because he was the man who was supposed to be in charge." Gatting was launching his first project which plans to bring all the members of the Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers under the umbrella of the ECB.
