Five Cricket legends of Karnataka felicitated by Sharad Pawar
Bangalore, Mar 10 (UNI) Five Cricket legends from Karnataka were felicitated by Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sharad Pawar at a function held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here today.
The great cricketers, honoured by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), included E A S Prasanna, B S Chandrasekhar, G R Vishwanath, S M H Kirmani and Roger Binny. The felicitation was in recognition of their contribution to Cricket and they were presented with a cheque for Rs Five lakhs each.
Congratulating the cricketers who were honoured, Mr Pawar lauded the role played by KSCA in promoting Cricket in the State and national level.''KSCA, the one which was responsible for establishment of National Cricket Academy.'' He said that KSCA may be the only Association in the country which is promoting the game at District level.
Former Cricketing grates and contemporaries of the Karnataka Legends Sunil Gavaskar, Bishen Singh Bedi, Chandu Borde and Raj Singh Dungarpur who recalled their days with the legendary figures also honoured and a bat autographed by the awardees was presented to them.
Former ace Cricketer and Commentator Ravi Shastri anchored the programme.
