England eyeing India's second spot in ICC Test Championship

Dubai, Mar 5 (UNI) India's second position in the ICC Test Championship Table will be under some sort of danger when England takes on New Zealand in a three-Test series starting in Hamilton today.

England will have the opportunity to reclaim their second spot and are currently sitting on 107 ratings points in fifth place and a 2-0 series win for the Englishmen, which dropped from second to fifth place in the championship table after losing the three-Test series against Sri Lanka in December last year, will help it leapfrog Sri Lanka and South Africa into third place.

England will earn four ratings points which will put it on a par with India but ahead of Anil Kumble's side when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.

However, if the series ends in a draw, New Zealand can only swap places with Pakistan which is currently on the sixth spot in the table Meanwhile, South Africa's 2-0 victory over Bangladesh kept it on 109 points along with Sri Lanka but behind Mahela Jayawardene's side in fourth place when the points are calculated beyond the decimal point.
