Down in the dumps but England still World Cup contenders: Ganguly
New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) While not many are willing to give England even an outside chance of winning the World Cup, former Team India captain and comeback man Sourav Ganguly feels Andrew Flintoff and Co have it in them to lift the coveted title provided they get their ''heads right and find a format to play the game''.
Ganguly, whose 109-ball 98 was instrumental in securing India's 14-run win over West Indies yesterday, said though it was difficult to predict the next World Champions but England were certainly there in the race.
''They can do well in one-day cricket if they get their heads right and find a format to play the game. I think there is enough talent in this team to do well in one-day cricket,'' Ganguly told the 'BBC Sport'.
''Kevin Pietersen is obviously a talented player, so is Ian Bell, and of course Andrew Flintoff. It all depends how England play. It's very difficult to predict how teams will play in World Cups but they have a good side,'' he added.
Among the favourites Ganguly said apart from defending champions Australia, India and South Africa were also firm contenders to lift the trophy in the Caribbean.
England had a horrendous run in ODIs in 2006 and have been accused by former players of not taking the 50-over version seriously.
