Doctors deem Yuvraj fit, now he's to take game-call
Mumbai, Jan 13 (UNI) Cricketer Yuvraj Singh was responding satisfactorily to the treatment of his injured knee but another test after two weeks will confirm the result, Dr Anant Joshi, treating him, here said today.
''Yuvraj's recovery has been satisfactory with progressive rehabilitation and luckily we managed without surgery. But he cannot straight away jump to big time fixtures. He has to start on a smaller scale with domestic games and gradually move on to bigger ones,'' Dr Joshi said.
''Meanwhile, Yuvraj said, I have been suggested by the Board of Cricket Control to take part in the forthcoming practice camp at Nagpur. I am quite keen participate, as I am in the probable for the World Cup but I shall take it step by step under the guidance of my doctors.'' ''My first practice match here yesterday was good. I fielded for 50 overs and batted another 30. But I need to play a couple of matches before the World Cup. Right now I'm aiming at the twenty20 match with Sri Lanka next month,'' he added.
Dr Joshi said the knee braces made for Yuvraj are enough support for the injured knee.
''Our medical team is evaluating his condition regularly and we will push him as far as his muscles can take. But he is in the best position to decide how well he is feeling and how far he can go,'' he added.
The newly installed iso-kinetic muscle testing device at the hospital has been helpful in examining the extent of damage to his knee and how bad it is compared to the normal one, Dr Joshi added.
Yuvraj had injured his knee about two months ago while playing Kho-kho. He has been under treatment of Dr Anant Joshi at Saifee Hospital.
