Dismissed for 179 Mohali hit back to claim 3 Chandigarh wickets
Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) After dismissed for 179 in 84 overs in their first innings, Mohali struck back by claiming three Chandigarh wickets for just 34 runs on the first day of their semi-final match in the Punjab State Under-17 Cricket Tournament for M L Markan Tropyat the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here today.
At draw of stumps, Vishal Thind and Shahnawaz Mirza were batting on five and four, respectivley.
Mohali won the toss and elected to bat. Chandigarh spinners left arm Rahul Chara (5 for 58) and right arm Anshul Tripathi (2 for 48) restricted Mohali innings to 179 with accurate bowling. Mohali innings was propped up by Arshdeep Brar and Kunal Mahajan who were associated in a 56-run stand for the third wicket. Arshdeep executed his strokes with power and confidence. His innings of 69 was studded with 10 fours and one six. Kunal's 39 contained five fours. Harpreet contributed 24 runs.
Chandigarh were soon in trouble as they came in to bat. They lost three quick wickets. Their first wicket fell at 13 (Shivam 9), second at 18 (Aayush Raj Soni 7) and third wicket at 27 (Pawas 7).
Vishal Thind and Shahnawaz Mirza were batting at 5 and 4 respectively. Mohit Bedi captured two wickets for 7 runs.
