Dinesh Karthik hits 51-ball 68 to help Tamil Nadu win low-scoring thriller vs Baroda in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023
Dinesh Karthik still has a lot of gas left in his cylinders and he proved it in Tamil Nadu's Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 match against Baroda at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai on Wednesday, November 29.
In the low scoring-thriller Baroda invited Tamil Nadu to bat first and left them reeling at 52/5 when the veteran wicketkeeper-batter walked in the middle. Dinesh Karthik played a counter-attacking innings which consisted of nine fours and two sixes. The captain took the onus on him and scored 68 off 51 balls to propel Tamil Nadu to 162 in 33.3 overs.

Shahrukh Khan, who scored 31 runs off 39 balls, was the second-highest run-scorer for Tamil Nadu. No other batter from the star-studded team scored more than 15 runs.
In reply, Baroda were bundled out for 124 in 23.2 overs. T Natarajan picked four wickets, Varun Chakravarthy picked three wickets, and Sai Kishore registered two scalps.
In the first match against Goa, Karthik scored 47 unbeaten runs off just 31 balls to fire Tamil Nadu to 296/8. His team won the match by 33 runs. The 38-year-old, who last played for India in 2022, was recently retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for IPL 2024.
Tamil Nadu have won each of their three Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 matches so far. They will next face Punjab on December 1.
