Dhoni gets hug from teenaged admirer
Kolkata, May 6 (UNI) In what turned out to be a melodrama over the fan-frenzy for cricketing heroes, a teenaged girl took everyone by surprise when she gave a bearhug to Indian star Mahendra Singh Dhoni in full public glare in front of the CAB club house here today.
The incident took place when the Indian squad was boarding the team bus at the end of five-day conditioning camp at the Eden Gardens before the Bangladesh tour.
Securitymen were caught napping as the 19-year-old Shiuli Hasina Nasreen, a first year college student, dashed at Dhoni breaking the security cordon, pleading the cricketer to sign the autograph book she was holding.
What happened next was enough to amuse the bystanders -- the girl clutched at the swashbuckling hero and took him in her arms.
Even as Dhoni tried to hide his embarrassment by putting on a smile on his face, he seemed to be at the mercy of the fan who refused to free him from the embrace.
Overcoming the initial stupor, commandos rushed and dragged the girl away from Dhoni.
Shiuli had come to the Eden Gardens all the way from Behrampore in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, to watch her hero in practice.
For the past three days, she was seen on the Eden Gardens stands, cheering for Dhoni and holding posters.
Police, however, said the girl was let-off and no action taken against her.
