Dalmiya's suit against BCCI admitted
Kolkata, Feb 9 (UNI) Former CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya's suit filed against his expulsion from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was admitted before Justice Indira Banerjee at Calcutta Hight Court.
Counsel S B Mukherjee had argued the case for Mr Dalmiya, sources said.
After hearing, the HC has granted time to BCCI to file its objection by February 23 and the affidavit in reply by Mr Dalmiya on March second.
The final hearing would be on March 5.
Besides, Counsel P C Sen and Pratap Chatterjee would appear for Mr Dalmiya and Mr S K Kapoor and Ranjan Bachawat for BCCI.
Mr Dalmiya had been involved in a legal tangle with the BCCI ever since the new dispensation under Mr Sharad Pawar took over in the an acrimonious 73rd BCCI AGM in November 2005.
After several legal manoeuvres, a special general body meeting expelled Mr Dalmiya from the cricket body and banned him from holding any post with the BCCI or with itrs affiliated units.
Thereafter Mr Dalmiya resigned from the post of CAB president to take up a legal battle against the BCCI to clear his name of the misappropriation charges levelled against him.
Mr Dalmiya had been accused of misappropriating PILCOM account fund and a showcause notice was served by the BCCI and a criminal case issued against him in Mumbai High Court.
