Consistent cricket will see us emerge victorious: Dravid
Mumbai, Jun 19 (UNI) The India cricket Captain Rahul Dravid today said the key to winning in Ireland and England is to play consistent and good cricket throughout the tour.
The Indian captain was addressing a press conference before the teams departure to Ireland by early morning flight tomorrow.
He said the onus will be on the batsmen who have the experience to put up the runs on the board so as the give the young inexperienced bowlers a cushion to bowl at the opposition.
Dravid said ''Venkatesh Prasad as the bowling coach will have an important role in guiding the young bowlers since he himself had been successful in Ireland.'' He said apart from Zaheer no Indian bowler has that much of experience and it will also be Zaheer's responsibility to guide and mentor the young bowlers.
Speaking about himself, the Indian Captain said this would be his last tour of England as he does not see himslef playing four years down the line.
Dravid termed the England tour as a special one due to the history attached to it.
He said another key to winning the England tour is the challange of staying fit throughout the duration of the matches.
Chandu Borde, cricketing manager of the team was also present at the conference. He admitted that this could be a challanging job for him. He however, added that he has stayed in touch with the game and he knows most of the present players since it was during his tenure as selection committee chairman that most of these boys were selected.
''I am quite confident if we play to our potential we will come back victorious,'' Borde added.
