Club cricketers play non-stop for 34 hrs to set world record

London, June 2 (UNI) Cricketers of an England club played non-stop for 34 hours thus hitting the world record for continuous cricket for a six.

Playing in the memory of local cricketer David Griffiths, cricketers of Red Row Sports Club in Northumberland played throughout the night braving heavy rain and chilly wind to beat the previous mark by half an hour.

The previous record was held by Griffiths University in Brisbane, Australia.

Guinness Book of Records adjudicators, besides a substantial local crowd, bared witness to the epic marathon match which concluded at 1910 hrs local time on Sunday.

The event, which began on last Saturday, was staged in aid of Asthma UK as a memorial to local cricketer David, who collapsed and died following an asthma attack last December.

David's father and uncle were both at the crease for the over which saw Red Row smash the record.
