Chappell sees 'positive' in Ganguly's comeback

New Delhi, Jan 25 (UNI) Acknowledging Sourav Ganguly's comeback as 'positive', Team India coach Greg Chappell said he is not concerned about how his relationship with the former captain is viewed by others.

''People are looking for things that are not there. I can't be bothered by that. Personally, I don't have any problem with him back in the team. His contribution has been postive,'' Chappell told 'The Week' in an interview.

Chappell said Ganguly's ouster from the team was a blessing in disguise for the Bengal southpaw as it gave him a chance to work upon the weak areas of his game, results of which are now there for everyone to see.

In one of the most remarkable comebacks, Ganguly's batting in the Tests was the only highlight of an otherwise disastrous tour of South Africa. The former skipper earned a one-day recall for the ongoing series against West Indies and justified his selection by slamming a 109-ball 98 in the first ODI.

''Often players need to go back and address issues in their game.

Sourav was at that stage some time ago and selectors decided it was the best thing for him. It gave him time and space to rebuild,'' he said.

Elaborating on his interaction with the former captain after his return, Chappell chose to play with a straight bat and said Ganguly has been seeking his advice on a regular basis.

''Both of us are professionals and adults and we behave accordingly. Since his comeback, he has sought my advice and I have gone to him with advice,'' he added.

Ganguly had fallen out with Chappell after he questioned his fitness and committment to the team but with the World Cup knocking at the door, it seems the duo has made peace just in the nick of time.
