Chappell is 12th man in Waugh-led greatest Aussie ODI side
Sydney, Feb 28 (UNI) Team India coach Greg Chappell found himself as the 12th man in the greatest ever Australian ODI side led by Steve Waugh with current skipper Ricky Ponting as his deputy at the Celebration of Aussie One-Day cricket here.
Waugh and Ponting boast a combined 2370 matches, 55,831 runs and 1532 wickets.
Australia's 163 ODI representatives since 1971 were invited to vote for their best team of 12, with 80 per cent of the group casting their votes.
Australia's 163 ODI players since 1971 were recognised at the event last night, which also celebrated the 20th anniversary of Australia's 1987 World Cup winning side and served as a chance to farewell Ricky Ponting and his team which leaves for the World Cup in the West Indies today.
Around 120 of Australia's 163 ODI players attended the Celebration of Australian ODI cricket -- a joint function of Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers' Association with support from Emirates Airline.
Adam Gilchrist came out as the most polpular among his peers getting 110 votes followed by Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath who garnered 109 votes.
